Sotto Voce Strings patterned its name after the musical term sotto voce: meaning to intentionally lower the volume in order to create a more powerful emphasis. As musicians, we have the humbling opportunity to nourish and heal souls through music and that is the purpose of this group!
Sotto Voce Strings has participated in performance tours to Russia, The Baltic States, Austria, Hungary, and have participated in a musical humanitarian expedition to the Middle East and Zambia (2019) and this last summer they were able to perform all over France and participate in the Encuentro Internacional De Musica in Baracelona Spain. They are looking forward to a performing tour this Spring 2023 to California as well as performances and recordings in Disneyland.
Members of this group have also received honorable mention in the Utah Symphony Youth Guild, been concertmaster at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, won American Protégé Competition to perform in Carnegie Hall, won East Coast International Competition, won International Young Maestros Competition, won International Radda Rise Competition and have been finalists in the prestigious International Fischoff Chamber Competition.
Graduates of this group have gone on to win scholarships at Juilliard, University of Michigan, Northwestern, Tanglewood, Interlochen School of the Arts, BYU, U of U, Utah State University, among many others.
Sotto Voce Strings have been featured on The Piano Guys Christmas Concert, as well as the Temple Square Concert Series 2018, Eve Winter Fest in 2015, the Salt Lake Valley Organ Concert Series, the St. George Tabernacle Concert Series, the Logan Tabernacle Concert Series, the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah (MTC) in 2010, and have participated in Lobbyfest at Abravanel Hall for the Utah Symphony, Tuacahn Amphitheater in St. George, Utah Festival Opera in Logan, collaborated with the Children’s Dance Theater, Tanner Dance, The Dance Box, as well as for local nursing homes, schools, hospitals and religious services.
Due to bad weather conditions, many people could not pick up tickets this week, so we are no longer requiring them.
